ÿþShan's instructions on creating this Active Guestbook. steps: 1 open folder at F:\All BZ11 sites\Guestbook. 2 There will be 3 folders ( captcha, cgi-bin, smileys ). Inside the cgi-bin, there are 2 readme files. Read those if my instructions are not clear enough. 3 Make a copy of all 3 folders and put into the local site of your new website. 4 Create a cgi-bin folder at the server site and upload the contents of cgi-bin from local into cgi-bin remote using Dreamweaver's FTP.(I find DReamweaver to be easy) Upload only the contents, not the cgi-bin folder. We DON't want this = cgi-bin\cgi-bin 5 Upload the other two folders outside of the cgi-bin remote folder. 6 You can see an exmple when you look into ghosts.bz11.com's remote view.(Dreamweaver FTP) 7 Once that is done, go to ( http://www.eerieguestbook.bz11.com/cgi-bin/guestbook.cgi?action=control_panel ) The password set now is 007. It can be changed in the control panel. If for some reason 007 or anything else does not work, go to ( cgi-bin\active_guestbook_files and remove active.txt ) at the remote site. The password will revert to "active". 8 Go through the control panel's standard preference manager and make necessary changes. 9 These changes must be done manually -- open cgi-bin\active_guestbook_files\langprefs.txt Make the changes for these items 12,13,14 manually: 12-TXT_user1_field=Your Age= 13-TXT_user2_field=What brought you to ghosts.bz11.com= 14-TXT_user3_field=What do you Rate this site? 1 to 10= 10 While still at control panel, select colour preference manager to change colours and also add your own custom banners by providing the url. Use eeritales.com or ghosts.bz11.com as examples. You're done.
